Olympus’ new ENDOEYE ULTRA

Building on the ENDOEYE legacy, the new-generation ENDOEYE ULTRA has been developed to provide high-resolution, consistent visualization, helping surgeons maintain orientation and make informed decisions throughout procedures. When used with the VISERA ELITE III platform, the system enables 4K imaging and a range of new observation modes, including Infrared (IR), Yellow Enhancement (YE), and Narrow Band Imaging™ (NBI™). These features deliver sharp, detailed images and support tasks such as distinguishing tissue structures, assessing blood flow and identifying areas of clinical interest. The device also incorporates focus-free imaging and a fog-free function, providing a clear view from the start of the procedure and reducing the need for manual adjustments during surgery.

Beyond visualization, ENDOEYE ULTRA contributes to simplifying workflows and enhancing efficiency in the OR. The videoscope is lightweight and ergonomically designed for one-handed operation. It features seamless image rotation with a stable horizon, helping surgeons maintain spatial orientation throughout procedures. Its compact construction integrates the light-guide cable into the system, reducing the number of components and keeping the surgical field organized. This is particularly important in procedures where working space is limited, such as single-port surgery and video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). A plug-and-play setup eliminates the need for assembly, while the device’s autoclavability means no additional draping is required. Together, these elements enable more straightforward preparation and help reduce the risk of setup errors.

“With ENDOEYE ULTRA, we are bringing the next generation of the ENDOEYE family to our customers and patients in EMEA,” said Kanichi Matsumoto, Senior Vice President & General Manager Surgical at Olympus. “It combines high-quality visualization with practical usability features that support confident decision-making and streamlined surgical practice.”

The ENDOEYE portfolio has been used in minimally invasive procedures across specialties such as gastrointestinal, gynecological, hepato-pancreato-biliary and urological surgery for three decades. With this latest addition, Olympus expands its offering in endoscopic imaging technologies for the EMEA region. Availability in other global regions will follow, subject to regulatory requirements such as product registration and market clearance.
